At TecUpdater, our auto headlight conversion switches are factory-configured for plug-and-play installation—no additional setup is required. Simply install and drive. However, if you’d like to customize the behavior of your headlights, this guide provides step-by-step instructions for making adjustments.
How to Adjust the Auto Headlight Conversion Switch in Your Car
1. Adjusting Sensitivity to Ambient Light
Perform in complete darkness
If your headlights turn on too early, recalibrate the ambient light sensitivity in a dark setting:
- Start the car and let the engine run for 1 minute.
- Within 2 seconds, toggle the headlight switch in the following pattern:
AUTO → Parking Lights → AUTO → Parking Lights → AUTO
- If the fog light indicator blinks 6 times, the sensitivity adjustment is successful.
2. Tunnel Mode Light Timing Configuration
Perform in direct sunlight
This setting controls how quickly the headlights activate when entering a tunnel. Be sure to do this in bright daylight:
- Start the car and let the engine idle for 1 minute.
- Within 2 seconds, toggle the parking lights in this sequence:
AUTO → Parking Lights → AUTO → Parking Lights → AUTO
- Watch the fog light indicator:
- 1 blink = Instant activation in tunnels.
- Repeat the steps to switch to 3 blinks, which adds a 3-second delay.
3. “Follow Me Home” Light Delay Adjustment
Best done in a dark environment
This feature allows your headlights to stay on after you turn off the car. The default delay is 20 seconds, which you can modify:
- Start the engine, wait 10 seconds, then shut off the car and remove the key.
- Wait for the headlights to switch off automatically.
- Set the headlight switch to OFF, then wait 10 seconds.
- Within 2 seconds, toggle the switch as follows:
OFF → AUTO → OFF → AUTO
- If the fog light indicator flashes once and turns off:
- The delay is now 10 seconds.
- Repeat the steps again to set it to 0 seconds.
- Repeat once more to return to the default 20 seconds.
4. Adjusting Unlock Light Duration
Operate in darkness for best results
This controls how long the headlights stay on after unlocking the car. The default duration is 30 seconds, and here’s how to adjust it:
- Start the engine, wait 10 seconds, then turn it off and remove the key.
- Wait 2 minutes, then press the unlock button on your remote.
- Wait until the headlights turn off automatically.
- Set the switch to OFF and wait 10 seconds.
- Within 2 seconds, toggle the headlight switch in this order:
OFF → AUTO → OFF → AUTO
- The fog light indicator will flash briefly and turn off:
- The unlock light duration is now 10 seconds.
- Repeat the steps to set it to 0 seconds.
- Repeat once again to reset it to the 30-second default.
