Installation Logic

The installation involves removing the existing mirror glass from the ORVM housing and snapping the new glass unit into place. No tools are required for the glass swap itself in most cases. The housing stays on the car, the adjustment mechanism is untouched, and no mirror assembly needs to be removed.

The heating element requires a power connection to function. The recommended source is the rear defogger circuit. When the rear defogger is switched on, it supplies power to the mirror heating element automatically through this connection. The harness variants include a ready-made wiring kit that simplifies making this connection. Non-harness variants are suitable for buyers who prefer to source or fabricate their own wiring, or for those who intend to connect the heating function at a later stage.

Behaviour Explanation

The aspherical section of the mirror glass is located toward the outer edge. This section has a slight curve compared to the flat inner portion. The result is a wider field of view on the sides without distorting the primary rear view. There is a visible transition line between the flat section and the aspherical section. Objects in the aspherical zone appear slightly smaller because of the wider angle but are visible at positions that would have been outside the flat mirror’s coverage.

The blue tint variants have a blue-tinted coating on the glass surface. This coating reduces the intensity of reflected headlight glare from vehicles behind, which is most noticeable during night driving. The tint is a passive optical property of the glass and does not affect the aspherical function or the heating function. Daytime visibility is not noticeably affected by the tint.

The heating element is embedded within the glass and is not visible from the outside. When power is supplied, the element warms the glass surface from behind, causing condensation and frost to clear within a short time. The heating is controlled by the rear defogger switch when connected to that circuit. If connected to an independent switch, it can be operated separately.
