On cars that have factory puddle lamp wiring already present in the ORVM — where the mirror connector has a dedicated puddle lamp pin — plugging into that existing wiring may require VCDS or OBD coding to enable the puddle lamp output. On cars without existing puddle lamp wiring, no coding is required as the lamps are powered directly from the chosen circuit.

Behaviour Explanation

Once wired, the puddle lamps activate based on the circuit they are connected to. Wired to the door/cabin light circuit, they come on when the door is opened and go off when the door is closed — the most natural behaviour for a puddle lamp. Wired to an always-on fuse with a door-triggered relay, the same behaviour can be replicated with more control over timing. The white LED output is clean and consistent — no warm-up delay, no flicker, immediate activation.

These lamps are not fitment-specific to a single vehicle model.
